Hazard communication is an important safety and health component for the workers because they have a right to know the materials they are handling as part of their job. Edward Ballo was responsible transitioning a site’s paper Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) system to a mainframe database which could perform inventory reviews of hazardous chemicals and hazard assessments, as well as direct the user as to which labels to use. It was also used for management of change considerations when removing or introducing chemicals at the site.
Edward has implemented the globally harmonized system (GHS) which included labeling and assistance with SDS’s. He has also performed Hazard Communication training for multiple sites.
