Edward Ballo was the Director of Plant Services for a major Defense contractor in the US. Edward led the EHS efforts for seven sites in the US and two internationally. The primary focus at these locations was occupational safety and health risks. The biggest risk was employees working in a remote setting with little or no leadership oversite.
Another area of focus was behavioral based safety practices. A risk assessment tool was used to strategize, implement and review the occupational safety and health program, as well as making financial and personnel adjustments to ensure program support and risk mitigation efforts were conducted. An illness and injury prevention plan was generated and used as a framework to speak with senior leadership about EHS risks.
Additionally, an EHS dashboard was created for all the sites throughout the world. EHS worked closely with Human Resources to ensure the Workers’ Compensation program was facilitated efficiently. During Edward’s tenure, EHS was integrated with Facilities and Plant Engineering to better support the customer.
