Edward Ballo has worked closely with Operational Excellence team mates to generate metrics that accurately reflected the EHS function’s performance. The primary focus of Edward’s efforts was to generate meaningful leading and lagging indicators that reflected the participation of the employee, EHS integration into the organization and the effectiveness of EHS communication and training programs delivered by the function and leadership to the organization.
Several examples of leading indicators that were established and used were closed corrective action validation percentages, environmental and safety observations and EHS training retention scores. The EHS metrics were uploaded to the dashboard for the entire organization to review and discuss.
