Define, Measure, Analyze, Innovate and Control (DMAIC) Model

 

Edward Ballo has trained, mentored, led and performed over 30 growth projects at the Greenbelt level. The primary purpose for using the growth tools was to generate value propositions for the business. Emphasis was given to the innovate step in the model. Unique tools used included: Strategic FMEA, Competitive Radar Chart, Value Sector Map and Analysis, Segmentation Variables, Value Chain Map, Customer Total Value Equation, Capability and Assets Analysis, Qualitative Market Research Plan, Questionnaire Design, Sampling Methods and Sample Size, Cluster Analysis, Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), QFD Planning Table, Benefit Deficiency Analysis, Inferred Importance (Scatter Plot), QFD Relationship Matrix, Conjoint Analysis.

Several examples of projects included:

An Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Strategy
There was an emerging UAV market in which the company had an interest. The company had offerings that added value to UAV OEMs. This project used the Six Sigma growth tools to determine where the company needed to focus its energy in order to align the customer’s needs with the company’s benefits. Growth: $250 million.

An International Growth Workshop
The Growth workshop team conducted a workout that considered organic and acquisition growth opportunities throughout the world. The goal of the workout was to use Six Sigma Growth tools to determine the greatest value for the company and international customers, and to grow the Defense and Space business internationally from $1.1 billion to $2 billion.
